Joe Mueller, and his wife, Pam, opened Minnesota Inboard in Excelsior in January 1992. Malibu Boats had just been introduced to Minnesota two years earlier, in 1990. While a boat is the first piece of the puzzle, Minnesota Inboard’s Pro Shop also supplies their customers with the industry’s finest water sports equipment. The Pro Shop is full of a complete selection of water skis, wakeboards, kneeboards, tubes, vests, tow ropes, gloves, wet suits, and dry suits. Minnesota Inboard understands that customers may need to test a product before buying it so they offer a demo program. For $15 a day or $30 for the weekend, you can try out a slalom ski or a wakeboard to make sure it fits your family and your needs. The demo fee is applied towards your purchase price.

Minnesota Inboard's Service Department, housed in a separate building in New Germany, is an integral part of their business. The Brainerd Lakes location also includes a complete service department that works closely with New Germany. Since 1992, the number of service technicians has grown from one to six. The knowledgeable technical staff specializes in inboard boats, able to handle light fiberglass and mechanical work. Minnesota Inboard’s service departments don't service jet skis, snowmobiles, out-boards, or runabouts. They specialize in inboards and they do it well and efficiently with quick turn around time. On average, customers get their boats back in one week, even in the midst of the busy summer season. That's more than a week faster than most service shops can offer.
